Dr.'s office Slllloooow to respond! :-S
Am I being unreasonable? I had a consult last week, emailed the Dr. that night. No response. Emailed staff today, no response, phoned today, no call back.
Am I being unreasonable? Did I make a mistake in selecting a Dr. that is overworked and understaffed? Love the surgeon and he's the only one at Rose, where I want to have the surgery, but I have questions that need answers - and little time/patience!
Christi,
Be persistent! I also have Dr. Snyder and found is office very busy but they seemed to get back to me in a timely manner. I know they just moved into that office at Rose full time not very long ago and are trying to get there phones updated. Don't give up and be persistent, I am sure they are not intentionally missing you. Keep your head up and Good Luck!
Hi Jennifer,
The key to a good response with UHC is making sure the request goes through the hospital coordinator section. If it just goes to the main office, somehow it gets "lost". Call the customer support number then talk to a hospital admissions coordinator to get a real name and fax and address to send the request to. Once we resent it to them, it was approved within 2 weeks. Hope this helps.
With regards to emails and doctor's offices (original post). Many times email accounts are set up, but responded to as non-urgent. If a person does not receive a quick email answer, it is likely this is the case, and follow up with telephone. Give phone messages a day to get back, then keep calling and soon you will get a response. Some days get crazy.
Best wishes to all!
Cordelia
Hi Jennifer -
UHC wouldn't know a straight answer if it bit them in the butt. Today alone they have said: 10-15 days, 30-45 days and 5 days. They won't let you talk to people who actually make decisions. Who knows? I can't imagine why they don't take some of their 25 MILLION dollars in assets (Colorado alone, in 1998) and hire a couple of employees to help serve the people that gave them the 25 mil .... Good luck! And my Dr.'s office is right on target when they say UHC always claims they don't have "the paperwork".
I have had great response from Dr. Snyder. Not so great with the office staff except Beth Culpepper. If you Email the staff, "cc" Dr. Snyder and he will usually answer you before his staff. Have you attended his support meetings? They are so great and you may get some of your questions answered there. Of course, any medical questions do need to be directed to the doctor. Hang in there, I am sure you will get the answers you need.
