I'm SAD!!!
Okay I posted on the main board cause I didn't know this one existed. Maybe you all can give me some moe localized help.... here is my post:
Well I rarely get a chance to get to the message board because I have questions only here and there. Right now I am pre op and still obsessed with the before and afters. I am sad because I have medicaid and was going to have to wait until January to even get a consult. Well then I went to an interview that went extremely well and found out they have United PPO so I was very excited. Well today I went back to do a manicure and pedicure for the same place (yes I am applying as a nail tech) and the other nail tech was who I had to do it on, well she is a big girl too and so I wanted to bring it up. I did and she was like OH NO our insurance won't cover it. I was like huh? I said you mean there is a written exclusion? She looked at me like she didnt know what I was talking about. I said so have you been to human resources and asked them to change it? She says yeah and there is no way they will. WELL on the first interview, I spoke to the salon manager of the salon and store and even told her my plans for surgery and how happy I was that they had United. She said that was great and she was so glad it would help. What I am thinking is that if the nail tech had to go to human resources and try to get them to change the written exclusion then the manager would at least know right? Well I know no one probably has any answers and I will just need to find out, but it depressed me because it was my hope... so I was wondering if anyone ESPECIALLY IN COLORADO, knows of United actually ever having a written exclusion for this procedure or if you know of a company that has ever done it with United then PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!! I am so sad about this....
Shawna, cheer up at least you have a job. Did you look on the Co insurer list to look up the insurance co and see what other people had to say. I looked and they have both united and united health care, not sure if it is the same as what you will have, but they all seemed to be good reviews of the insurance co. The best thing to do is call customer service of the insurance co when you get their information. Good luck!! I hope it goes well for you. I am trying to get on medicaid, so any info on surgeons who will take medicaid that you may have would be greatly appreciated. Email me.

Shawna, I am in Co and have UnitedHeath Care POS, and it has approved my surg. (tomorrow YEAH). I don't know if United and UnitedHealth Care are the same. Not all managers can know what the insurance exclusions are. I would check with the human resources of your company to find out about specific exclusions. As far as having to wait until Jan. I attended the informational meeting last NOV. and my 1st appt with the surgeon was in June. Then I had to wait for insu. approval. You are probably going to have to wait no matter
what ins. you have. Some of the posts I have read people have had to wait 2 yrs., but it does go by fast. Good luck. I know you feel like your spinning your wheels.

Hi, I am also in Colorado. I work for a hospital that is self-insured. We have UHC and there is an exclusion. Since my company is self-insured, they tell UHC what they want to cover and they do want to cover weight loss surgery. I am trying to get that turned around. United Health Care is one way or the other. If your policy has an exclusion, they will not cover the surgery. People have even hired and attorney and it does no good. Allot of employees think that just because you have UHC that the surgery is covered. I have taked to several people at my company and most were not aware of the fact that the surgery was not covered. They never asked. Ask the HR department for a copy of the insurance policy to see if it is covered. Sorry for the bad news. I am fighting but don't know what will happen. Hang in there. What else can we do!
