Upset and Confused HELP!!

Today was my 1st consultaion with the surgeon, he asked if everyone in my family was supportive of this surgery, well I was truthful and was explaining that I am in a bad marriage and my {soon to be ex} was not being very supportive....The Dr. said that when I go in for my preop meeting with him I need to bring my husband and he needs to be supportive and sign some paper or he WON'T do the bypass.......Now why is it my husbands choice, It is my body my choice, I am only 38 5'5" and 353lbs...... not good! I need this done so I can keep on living, I have a one yr old and a 17 yr. old and a 13 yr. old.....they need their mother. I just left the office wanting to cry and totally confused, I told my husband what was said and he just snickerd as if my life is in his hands now. :o( Brenda in Co.

That is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard! Did he not hear you when you said soon to be ex husband! There are many doctors in Fort Collins that I've heard of maybe you should go to sombody else. I wouldn't want to give my business to (and that is exactly what you do when you choose a doctor) to anybody so insensitive. Having a strong support group is very important but the group can be friends co workers and other family and does not have to include your husband! I wonder what he would have said if you had already been divorced and not in any other relationship? Go to sombody else - Greeley is not that far from Denver and there are plenty of Doctors down here also.
