Hi! I also live in Thornton and had my surgery in Jan. 2002, with Dr. Otteman in Ft. Collins. So far I have lost 165 lbs. & am 5 lbs. away from being 1/2 of my former self. If I stay this weight, I will be a happy camper, as anything below 200 lbs. was my goal. Good luck with surgery & my thoughts are with you! Sheila

Hi, I am Terry. I live in Arvada and am pre-op. I also want to use Dr. Snyder but have insurance issues. I have UHC with an exclusion. Since my company is self-insured, I am talking with the HR department about getting an override or, at least no exclusion in our new policy. Fighting it!!

Hi, I'm Pat and I began my investigation about 4 weeks ago. Since that time, I have decided on a surgery (lap band) and a choice of surgeons (of course, in Denver, there is only one lap-band surgeon!), either Dr Snyder or Dr. Johnell in Greeley. I have United Helathcare EPO, and am still waiting to hear if I will be covered. My PCP was working with me on the approval, but for Dr. Tillquist, who only does bypass or the stapling thing. So, I wrote to him and pleaeded for his help! LOL I'm going to try to make it to one of Dr. Snyder's seminars, but after speaking to someone at his office, I am afraid they emphasize the bypass, which I won't do. Interesting to me has been my normal sized husband's reaction to this.... he is supportive but leary and uncomfortable. What about anyone else?

Hi Michelle. My name is Annette I use to live in Thornton, but we recently moved to Broomfield. I have also chosen Dr. Snyder as my surgeon. I went to see him on may 14th haven't heard anything from his office or the insurance company yet. A little bit scared. I was told to do twelve week dr. supervised weight loss programs priop to the surger. Helps with the approval process. I have completed 13 weeks so far. I called Dolly at Dr. Snyders office a couple weeks ago and she said They are this time scheduling for September. She said she would call when I got approved and I might be waiting until the end of the year. I hope it is soon. When is your surgery scheduled for.

Hi, I'm Karie and I live in Grand Junction. I am 33 years old, pre-op (hopefully not for long) and my surgeon is Dr. Bell in Englewood. I have attended my nutrition class and have sent to the surgeons office all of my paperwork, referral letters, official referral, etc. then I found out that my insurance company has a written exclusion on the gastric bypass surgery. I have changed my insurance to be covered under my husbands plan, which says it is covered as long as it is medically necessary, which my pcp has said in his referral letter. UGH! So much runaround, but hopefully not for long! Good luck to everyone pre and post op!
