Aetna Insurrance approval
Earlier this week I finished my 3 month program for Aetna. My surgeon's office says that it will take a few weeks for my surgeon to write my recommendation letter and then a couple more weeks for the actual approval. Does it usually take that long? I have seen all types of wait time from browsing on OH. Does any one have aetna that went through Dr. Chae's office? I an just not sure when t follow up with them to find out the status.
Thanks for the help!!!
Thanks for the help!!!
Hi there,
I have Aetna and had my surgery with Dr. Chae. His staff is so wonderful. Once I had everything put together from Kellym TJ and Dr. Kaplan, they gave the packet to Dr. Chae. It took him about a week to put together his information. They let me know the day it was submitted to Aetna and it was approved in a day and half.
Dr. Chae's insurance corrdinator is the best, she knows exactly what to put together to get an approval from Aetna.
When are you thinking about having the surgery? Mine was on 8/29/11, so I am still fairly new at this thing. What kind of surgery are you having?
Hang in there time will fly by and pretty soon you can begin your new journey to a healthy life.

I am so glad to here from someone who has Dr. Chae as well!! I really do like his office, everyone seems so nice. Ok so I should just chill out lol. I got an email that the my file was given to him on Friday so maybe I will hear next week. I am so nervous and anxious to here back from them.
Congrats on your surgery!!!! How has it gone so far? I am hoping to have mine the beginning of November. I am getting the gastric bypass, which did you have?

I had the gastric bypass and the surgery itself went great. The nurses at Skyridge are absolutely the best. My advice to you is to get up and walk around as soon as you can. The first time you will probably need a nurse to help you, but after that, you just take your IV pole and go stroll the halls. It helps get rid of the gas from the surgery.
I had my surgery on 8/29/11 and so far I have lost 30 punds.
I had a major set back 2 weeks ago which I don't think was the surgeries fault. I had a bleeding ulcer, and had to go to the emergency room, and was admitted into the ICU. I lost so much blood that they had to do a blood transfusion and give me 3 units of blood. That os course has made me feel weak and tired, but I am beginning to bounce back.
Dr. Chae is great, I called him when I first started not feeling right, and he returned my call immediately. He gives out his personal cell phone number to his patients.
You will do fine, let me know when your surgery is. I am sure you will be approved real soon. That is the hardest part is the waiting, then once you get the all clear and the surgery date, then it is like oh my what have I done. I know I am new at this but I think it is so worth it. I have never been able to lose 30 pounds in my life, let alone this quickly.

I really appreciate you sharing your experiences with the surgery so far. It helps for the future to not be so unknown. How long were you in the hospital when you had the surgery?
I am sorry to hear about your ulcer I hope everything is going better with that.
Wow to hear 30lbs in 6 weeks is amazing, congrats! I agree to be able to lose that much will be amazing and definitely not something I could do on my own.
