Questions about the six months dieting prior to surgery

After fighting with Cigna for over a year they approved me.  Cigna as most other insurers require six months of monitored dieting in the previous 24 months.  Anyone know how the insurance company confirms this requirement?  Cigna has delayed banding plans and last thing I want to do is wait another six months. If anyone knows please reply.

Thanks for reading.

monthly doctor visits recording weight, bmi, doctor's recommendation of diet and excercise. That was the documentation i needed for the six months diet, though not with cigna but it was what was refered for me. Seems like a long time but it will go quick. I had to have it done before meeting with the surgeon so when I was at month 4 I had my surgical appointment scheduled, by the time I got the other evals done, i was at the six month mark. GOod luck
