Yes, I have dealt with this.  My insurance company (Anthem - Blue Shield/Blue Cross) had a cap on how much they would be of my surgery and it was $7500.00.  The procedure was quoted at $15,000.00 so I was looking at about $8,000.00 out of pocket.  My surgery was done at Rose Medical Center and the allowed me to make payments after the procedure.  It is alot of money but I would do it all again.  I had surgery October 15th, 2007 I am 2 years out and down 130 lbs.   It all worth it!

My Dr is Dr Chae too.  I talked to Susie as I have a 80/20 insurance.  She advised they would submit all the claims to the insurance, and then what my portion is deductible and 20% would be billed to me.  She said the hospital is pretty easy to make payment arrangements with.

Even though the insurance may bill $10,000 doesn't mean you will have to pay $3,000.  The insurance may only allow $8,000 and that is the portion you will pay your 30% off of.

Good Luck!!!  I haven't received approval yet...  I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shiled. I haven't been told I have a cap on payment...so hopefully not, or I have more problems that I thought!
