Hello everyone! I'm trying to find some locals who have gone threw or are going threw the WLS experience and and are getting healthy by excising too. I recently started the couch to 5k program and am planning on jog/walking a few 5K in the area. If your interested in some email support or maybe we can even workout running together on an occasion that would be great!

Hi, I was wondering what you consider local?  I live in La Salle and work in Greeley.  I have started the couch to 5k about 5 times now.  I think a group experience would make me more accountable, and keep me going.  I love the thought of being a jogger/runner, just lack motivation.  Would love to enter some 5k races.

What is the couch to 5K program? Where do you sign up? Are there "instructions", mini-goals?

I want to join.   I used to run a 5 K 20 yrs ago but now can barely get off the couch.  Just had WLS last week.  How do I start?  [email protected]

I'd really like to know what the couch to 5K program is also.  I've never been a runner; I was a swimmer.  But running is more practical right now.

coolrunning.com will explain the program and how to get started. This summer we have a lot of 5K in the Denver area and I plan to run at least one a month. Send me your email address and I'd be happy to let you all know which I am running.

I was able to find that website.  Looks doable (assuming I can get my rear end to start), though the time might be wishful thinking.  I've been sedentary for so long I'm not sure I can take walking for that long right off the bat, but what the heck.  I'd love to give it a try anyway.  I have a really bad ankle and knees that feel the stress of my weight, but I'm willing to give it my best shot.

I'll add you as a friend and send you my email address.

all you have to do is take that first step! You might even surprise yourself! If you have been sedentary I would just start with walking 15-20 mins at a time then increase up to 30 mins. Once you can comfortably do 30 mins then I would work on adding speed. I know you can do it!

There is also a website called www.C25k.com that will give you the tools to go from sedentary to running 5k's over time. Pretty much the same as the cool runnings website.
