Hello! Introductions and all that. . .

Hello! 

I am just starting on the steps to having WLS - Realize Lap Band. 

My name is Megan and I will be 40 in August and after researching for about 2 years, I have decided to press forth with getting banded. 

My docs are all on board and I have a seminar I am attending 21 May; I am excited about going.  

I have gotten all the paperwork completed from the surgeon I want to perform the surgery (Through Rose Hospital) and will be making my consult appts tomorrow!

I called my insurance company, no exclusions, just have the dr. use the right codes (CPB? CP something!) for the approval and wala! NO SWEAT! 

I have researched WLS for the past 2 years and now, that I am really huge with an EXTREMELY high BMI, now is the time. 

Thing is,  I am really overweight but went through gall bladder surgery in Feb 09  without issues.  My weight, however, is making me miserable, joints wise.

Now is the time and I am really excited to be on this track!

Hi there, Megan!!  You will be amazed how much better you will feel after you get your band.  I had RNY but I've heard of many who've had great success with their band.  I'm wishing the same for you.
I just wanted to say HELLO right back and wish you lots of luck and we will welcome you to the loser's bench.  Keep posting and update us on your news.

Tomorrow evening I am going to a Realize Lap Band seminar.  It is through Rose Hospital and Dr. Snyder.  I am looking forward to it and very excited! 

I do need to lose weight and am really commmitted to this tool; I just cannot seem to budge any weight the conventional way, not like when I was younger.

I will be glad to join the Loser's Bench!!

Megan....tonight is YOUR night, isn't it?  You'll do just fine.  There are folks on the 50 and over BMI board/forum.  Have you found them yet?  Quite a few from the CO Springs area.

WELCOME MEGAN! I just wanted to say Hello! I am here in Englewood, CO. I haven't had surgery yet, still in my required 6 month classes. Sounds like you have a good insurance! That's very comforting as you go through this process.

Hi Everyone! 

The seminar was GREAT!!  I have made my appt. with Dr. Snyder and it is on 8 July, which is OK because THAT WAY, I can get all of my consults done and have them when I go to the appointment.  

I feel pretty excited!!  I think of being able to walk my doggies and not being in pain.  I think of riding my motorcycle with more vigor!  I think of the things that I haven't done due to my weight and how this tool will help me lose weight and keep it off!

Yea, I am wicked excited!

I am so happy for you. I am using Doc Snyder and my surgery is scheduled for June 9! He is just wonderful and I know you will have a great experience.

Just a bit of advice if I may..if you are using insurance make sure to find out what psych eval they require done. I went to a psychotherapist that Doc Snyder recommended to then find out that my insurance required something else so that really delayed the whole process. If you are self-pay then you don't need to worry about that. But the sooner you talk to the insurance the quicker it will go.

I know we have different surgeries but if you would like to talk please feel free to do so. Best of luck in your journey to a whole new you!

Hi Rafting!!! 

I really liked Dr. Snyder and the folks at the seminar were wonderful!! 

I called my insurance and they have been awesome; I got info yesterday that the Realize Band is covered, and the codes are covered - and yes, it has to be medically necessary.  My BMI alone makes it medically necessary, as I was very upfront with my insurance company rep.  SOO!!! The psych eval is ok, too! I checked on all that;) 

SO! I have 2 of my consults 1 June and 9 June (your surgery date) and I am still waiting for the psych to call me back to schedule an appointment so it is really moving!!

I am excited for YOU, too!!!   It is a whole new life we are getting.  I can't wait!!

Yeah it sure is exciting. I'm glad to hear that you are being pro-active about it all and so it will go alot quicker for you I'm sure. I was pro-active too just assumed that the psych eval was right and it wasn't. Oh well.

You would never believe what happened. Ever since I heard about my surgery date I was so excited. Well, I bit into a sandwich and lost half my tooth. I was soo worried that if an infection had set in that I would have to postpone the surgery. Well went to the dentist this morning and good news. No infection. He did have to put a post in and I will need a crown but the surgery can go on! I was just worried sick about it and told him if messing with my stupid tooth means I have to postpone surgery forget about it and I'll suffer with the pain. Luckily, don't have to do that. He fixed it this morning and it stinks because now my jaw hurts alot more than it did when I went in to see him this morning. Oh well, still happy that the surgery won't be postponed.
