Insurace Help

So back in September I met with Dr Snyder and was told that I was a good canidate for surgery. They called my insurance company and were told that I had to have 1 yr of weigh loss attempts  documented with my family dr, which I dont have. Since then I have been going to 123 fit which I like and following the body for life diet....again for the 3rd time.

My question is that what happens when my insurance changes over in July of next year? Each and every year my husbands employer finds a new insurance administrator and the policy for WLS changes.  This is the first year that the WLS has even been allowed.

Can there 1 yr documentation policy be overruled with extensive dr refferals saying that I need the surgery?

Each insurance company has thier own requirements, so if you know what kind of insurance you will be switching to you can contact them and see what they require.  Otherwise I would say just document everything, make sure if you go to the dr. for anything they weigh you.  That way you will have already started your one year  and won't have to start over in July.  Some insurances will accept weight loss plans, weigh****chers, etc. and some require it to be supervised by a doctor.  My insurance requires 3 month physician supervised plan.  I am seeing a nutritionist who works with a physician. Colorado SpringsSurgical Associates, Dr. Fisher's office, gave me her name.  I don't know if this helps any, good luck.

I am going through Colorado Springs Surgical Associates too!  I really like them.  My doctor is Dr. Perlman, she is so sweet.
I just had to document the weight lose attempts that I have made, but I did not have to have a supervised diet plan.  Even though I have been there, done that.
I have Kaiser Insurance and from what I understand they are pretty encouraging of the surgery.  My surgery date is 31 December.
Best wishes to you on your journey and I pray that your insurance will allow WLS.
