Well I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have been lurking and posting to the OVER 50%BMI Forum since Feb this year. I never noticed the CO Forum though I think I have seen the label for it more times than I can count. I have had one interesting ride so far on this life enhancing decision I have made. I am now 7 months post op and offically -153 pounds since Jan this year. WOW did I really say that? I look at myself now and see some (little) changes. But even that took a long time in coming. I know we all feel like that. But I also know the numbers on the scale does not lie. Nor does any of my Dr's. It has been a very rough ride for me. Plenty of bumps are still lingering as well. Tonight I am posting new pics to my profile and if anyone wants to get to know me I have posted everything in my profile blog. I hope it will help somone else. I have EVERYTHING there. I live in CO Springs. I think it might be better "connecting" with people in Colorado that is local to me. I look forward to getting to know some of you. I know a little bit of strange but I am feeling pretty "off" tonight. Hope everyone had a good Turkey Day. Now time for all that shopping we just love to do.

Kathleen,

That is fantastic!  I keep seeing all these big losses and I'm coming up on 4 weeks post op
and don't feel like much of a loser.  It seems to be going slower than I thought it
would.  Any tips would be great & keep up the good work.  :o)

I lost 12.5 lb on the 3-day liquid diet prior to surgery and then didn't lose much for a couple of weeks.  The past 7 days I've lost 7 lb, although today I didn't gain or lose.

I fixed Navy beans & ham and froze it in small portions.  I think that may be what caused the quick loss.  One half cup of Navy beans is only 66 calories and adding the diced ham shouldn't add too much.

I am just a few days out, and am reading for inspiration while I try and conquer the head hunger and med sleepiness. Reading this has inspired me!

Hi,
I'm flying to Denver in two weeks to get my lap band. Everyone keeps asking me if I'm nervous about the surgery and I keep saying I'm not. But I think I am but obsessing about it by convincing myself that the surgeon I sent $10,000 is all a scam and I'm going to get there and it's going to be an empty building. Having trouble verifying information. Any help tips?

THanks,
Melissa

I'm pleased to say that Dr Kirshenbaum is for real!  He's great!  I had my surgery 1/29/08 and he worked really hard to make it happen for me.  I have Malignant Hyperthermia and my first surgery was cancelled.  He had to go out of his way and pay out of his own pocket to get things set up for me to have surgery at a different facility.  (the outpatient anesthesia dept wasn't comfortable with doing my surgery as an outpatient)  Dr. K saved my life!  He's absolutely the best!  I love Natalie, Marilyn and Mary too!  If you have any questions PM me!  And visit www.lapbandtalk.com "considering Dr. Kirshenbaum thread"  You'll find all of his patients!
