Surgery dates with Dr. Snyder

Ok,  so I am not a patient person.  I can't believe I have worked so hard for the
last 18 months to get where I am.  I am wondering about those of you who used
Dr. Snyder how long after insurance approval you were able to have surgery?
I know this is not a magic overnight thing but I really want to get a start on
my weight loss before the holidays,  I am so tired of having my picture taken
and looking at the same old thing (FAT ROLLS, FAT ROLLS AND MORE FAT
ROLLS.)

Thanks,
Paula

I had my surgery on the 8th of September, but had been approved by my insurance in April. It took me that long to get all my pre-op testing done and then on Dr Snyder's schedule. Mine was not the norm however as I was out of state and it took me a while to get everything in order. I would say if you have pre-op testing done and insurance approval you can get scheduled within a very short time!

I did all the pre-op before my first consultation with him and once my insurance approved me (which took 6 months-I was rejected 3 times) they scheduled my surgery within 2 weeks.

Never, never, never, never give up.

I started my "journey" in October of last year and was banded on 9/4/08... my insurance made me do the whole 6 month diet thing... I guess I could've done all the insurance requirements at once, but i dragged it out but I finally did it and I got approved first time... I really really did my homework... I know I bugged the heck out of Dolly... she called me at 6am to tell me that I was approved... she knew I would be so excited!!   So, I was approved and scheduled for surgery and then was reschedule two more times... but Finally got it done about 3 weeks after the approval. So excited!!

I was self pay so didn't have to wait on insurance.  However, I had my last pre op screening done on a Friday, that Monday they got the results and clearance and I had surgery that week on Friday.   Another gal that posts at Lapbandtalk got insurance approval early in the week and had surgery on Friday as well.  Think it all depends on the schedule.  Not sure with the holidays coming up if that will make a difference with vacations/schedules etc.   I was very pleased how quick it went.  Seminar 4/26, 1st consult 5/14, had a week long cruise the 17th to 24th and was banded 6/5.

Hi there,

Well once I did everything I finally got my date.  It was November 13th  they moved me
to the 10th so I am counting down the next 10 days.  I'm both nervous & excited AND
trying to make sure I will have everything I need.  :o)

Thanks,
Paula

Woo Hoo!!!  It'll probably seem like it will never get here and then when it does, it seems so fast.  So you are getting a band, which kiind?  I know he does the Realize now too.  I have the LapBand and am very pleased.  He started doing the REalize a few weeks after my surgery I think.  If you have any questions, I'll try and answer as best I can.  Did you go to the pre op nutrition class yet and get 'the bible'.  That book was so helpful those first few weeks.  Good luck to you!

Editing to add:  I just noticed under your name that you are getting the band for sure.  And that you are in Brighton.  I am in Brighton all the time for groceries etc.  I am near Tower Rd in Commerce City.  We should meet sometime!

That would be great,  we will have to plan something since we are not that
far away.  It would be great to have a lapband buddy close.  I'm just outside
of Lochbuie so its not that far.  :o)

I did get the bible and have my pre-op Tuesday morning & meet with Dr. Snyder
after.

Talk to you soon!
Paula

There's a Wendy's right off of I-76 at Bromley we could meet at or a Chilis by the new Target, Kohls, etc.  Wanna try before you have surgery?  or after?

Also, tonight there is a support group meeting.  Kim is leading it I believe and it is in Thornton at the municipal building at Thornton Pkwy (about 92nd) and Grant.  It's at 630 if you are interested.  This is the first month for it there, it used to meet at the Northglenn library.
