Anyone from Denver/Aurora getting ready 4 Surgery

I have my first appointment scheduled with Dr. Snyder for 9/23/08. I have my pulmonary done and I have my physc on 9/18/08. I have been looking into this surgery for over a year now and have decided to move forward. I just wanted to see if anyone else local is getting close so maybe we could support each other through it. 

I have a great family who is 100% supportive, but I am looking for someone to talk to that understands what I am going through...

Hi Nicole!  I've had the lapband on 8-25-08, with Thomas Brown MD here in Denver.  I'd be happy to go through this with you!!!!  I'm 11 days post op but still learning!  How are you doing now?  Getting nervous I imagine!!  Let me know anything, I can tell you what I know!  I've heard great things about Dr. Snyder!

Hi Nicole! My name is Amanda and i live in Denver.  I am scheduled for open RNY on Sept 15th.  Ten days- I can't believe it.  I have been struggling with my weight since the sixth grade but it has gotten more and more difficult over time.  My husband had WLS at the end of June and he is doing great. 

I am very excited about starting my new life.  Although I am committed to this life change it is a bit of a grieving process to give up my best friend SWEETS.

You picked a great surgeon.  I had surgery by Dr. Snyder twice this summer.  On June 5th he put my lapband on and on Aug 8th, he took my gall bladder out.  He's great.  Which surgery are you having?  Good luck to you and I hope you get a surgery date real soon.  It seemed like an eternity when I was waiting for mine, but in reality it was pretty quick and now I can't believe it's been 3 mos since I got my band.  I have lost 61 lbs. (I lost 10 from the time of my seminar in April to my 1st consult with Dr. S on 5/14 so 51 since surgery).

Teri - That is awesome that you are down 21 pounds already.  I am very anxious, the wait is the hardest part!!!  I am just trying to prepare myself and make food lists and stuff like that.  We are right in the middle of moving right now so my stress level is through the ROOF>>> ugh :)


I am having the Laproscopic RNY and hopefully I can get on the fasttrack program.

Are any of you attending the support groups here locally?

I attend the support group in Northglenn the first Tues. of the month.  It's both bypass and lap band folks there.  I see you are in Aurora so that may not be real close. 

I am set for surgery on Monday and scared as hell. It is just the unknown. I am getting GPS.

Anyone in the North Denver area I can talk to?

I am in the north area though not as far north as you.  I had lap band with Dr. Snyder in June.  I live near 104th and Tower (near DIA).  How can I help you??

You should feel completely confident that Dr. Snyder is your surgeon.  I just had lapband surgery done by him on Sept 4... I live in the Springs, but the 1 hour drive to Denver is totally worth it! The entire office staff/nurses are so supportive and they really do care! Good luck with your surgery! :)

I met with Dr Snyder on Tuesday and he was very nice and I was so excited, until I met with the insurance lady and we called my insurance company and they said I had to have a year of documented weight loss with my doctor....  I cried the whole way home.  I have receipts from 123 Fit where I have been going since Febrauary with no change, receipts from all of the body for life products I have purchased, slim fast, alli, and countless other places and products I have tried.  All documented out and ready to go.. but they dont care. 



WHAT DO I DO NOW....I CANT AFFORD THIS OUT OF POCKET....

Someone told me to go work for Tmobile or Lane Bryant for 90 days just to get on thier insurance and supposably they will cover the surgery no questions asked....

any opinions...
