a bit worried...
I am scheduled for surgery on Sept. 4th with Dr. Schoen @ University Fitzsimmons I just wonder if anyone had him or knows anyone. A close friend of mine got her RNY done 18 months ago and she lost a lot of weight and hasn't mentioned any complications. I have never seen a thin her before and she looks like a different person. I know she's healthier and I'm happy for her for that reason but, honestly she looks older she's only two years older than me, we used to hang out all the time but things are so different now ...I'm only 28 and I don't wanna look 35 when I start loosing. I have never seen a thin me ..ever I am so scared to change into someone else but I have faith that I will look better and not worse. I know that I will be healthier which is most important and I know that everyone is different.
I had my surgery on September 6, 2007. Dr Schoen was my surgeon and I liked him very much. I have lost 95 pounds so far and am not having the excess skin problems that some patients have because I have stopped losing for the last few months. That is not due to the surgery, which has been very successful, but due to other medical problems. My thyroid is very messed up and my medications have been changed several times but one time it was made too low through a PA error and so I actually gained some weight. Talk about being UPSET!! I am back on tract now though. Do not worry about looking older. If you are concerned with the sagging skin remember that you can get it removed later if necessary. You will feel so much better and look so much better in clothes, that you won't mind. I find I don't. I spent so much of my life being fat that having a bit of saggy skin is nothing. And my face looks younger!
I had surgery 7 months ago and have lost 130+ lbs. People comment on how much younger I look...I'm 43 and people thought I was in my 30's before I had surgery and I still get a lot of comments about how much younger I look. My skin has never been in better shape, even strangers stop me. My sister tells me that I look like I did when I was in high school - but I KNOW I don't look like I'm 18! LOL I think it's the luck of the draw.
Good luck!
Good luck!
I hope I get those results too! I'm 43 and hoping to have surgery with Dr. Chae next month. Still waiting on getting final approval and a date, however, Susie is pretty confident we will get it pushed through. I'm really hoping it drops some years from my face. After going through cancer last year I have really aged lately and am ready to look like myself again.
