I am having a bugger of a time recovering from my surgery. How long did it take some of you to recover and get yourself back to any kind of "normal" state? ie: energy, exercise, even going to the dam shopping store???? Kathy

Hi everyone: It only took me a few days (And two of those were in the hospital) to get back to normal.

MY biggest problem was surviving the week from hell better known as THE CLEAR LIQUID DIET.  That is because the good folks at P/SL seemingly developed a chronic case of  the left hand **NEVER** knowing what the right hand was doing, saying, or even KNEW regarding post-op care.  THAT is because the nurses station NEVER **COMMUNICATED** with the admissions department OR Dr. Metz' office (I could go on a long rant here, but I don't have the time and it's not what the topic is about anyway, but you get the gist of it). I brought it up once during an appointment and again during Wednesday's group meeting.  Hopefully something will be done to correct this problem. But to those who are thinking of going thru P/SL for their bariatric surgery or have their dates set, PLEASE don't let the above experience scare you away.  It's just something to be aware of in case Dr. Metz or Dr. Brown have you stay overnight at P/SL. Cheers :)

Hi Kathy- Sorry you are having a rough time.  I had a relatively easy recovery from my RNY last year- I was back working in 5 days and was pretty normal at about two weeks.   Then I had my gall bladder removed five months later and had a horrible recovery.  It took me about two months to get to feeling normal.  I guess everyone is different in our recoveries!  Hope you start feeling better soon!  Shelly

Hello kathy, I just had a RNY done on may 13th and they  had me up walking in the hospital and  now I walking every day for 30 min. I do get slugish  threw the day so i drink and energy drink called white lightning  or one called FRS they are a powder and you add to water but it helps me alot  there is no sugar in FRS and white lightning has 2g of sugar  but my dr. said it was fine. it took about 5 day to feel back to normal just for the surgery pain. I hope this helps you and wish you the best of luck......Sandi
