I live in Aurora, Colorado. I had lap-band surgery on April 17, 2008.  Dr.Snyder and all of the hospital staff were awesome. I had surgery around 1100 and I was back home by 5:30pm.  I have not experienced any pain. I was sent home with a pain pump that gave me a dose of pain medication each hour. I took the line out on saturday, as instructed, still no pain. No nausea, but I was given patches for nausea just in case. I bought sample packs of protein drinks to see which one I like and so far I don't like any.  They are either too chalky or it leaves an after taste. I've been getting most of my protein by drinking carnation instant breakfast several times a day. I have to force myself to drink water. I'm not thirsty. Is this normal?  Can anyone suggest a chocolate protein drink that doesn't taste chalky or leave an after taste? I have been very cold lately! I used to always be hot! Is this normal or is my body in need of something that I'm not doing? I started walking on my treadmill the very next day. It needed a little oiling because it had only been used to hang clothes on for so long, but after a few steps, it stopped crying. I am back at work today! I used to be an avid Pepsi drinker. I stopped drinking pop about 1 month ago, but as soon as I walked in the office and sat at my desk, I wanted a Pepsi. I'm not going to have one though. Anyone experience anything like this before?

Hi everyone:

I had the lap band too on March 6th at P/SL & I can personally tell you that not being thirsty is normal HOWEVER come this summer, we WILL undoubtedly be drinking PLENTY of the Aquafina as the hot temperatures will force us to do so.

Since you're only five days out, I assume you're still on the pureed stuff. As such, have you tried any of the protein whey powders out there? Wal-Mart & (Supposedly) Walgreens sells it in their stores (I'm also told that Walgreens only sells it only via their website too) & there are plenty of places online where you can get it (I'm sure OH has a few links you might try checking out).

Another source would be your nutritionalist (You DO see one, do you?) as they would know pretty much all the ins and outs, nuts and bolts of nutritious products because it's what they get paid for.

Hope this helps! :D

Cheers :D

It is good to know that not being thirsty is normal! I've tried sample packs of a variety of protein drinks from the vitamin cottage, but not the whey protein. I'll try that. I am still drinking carnation instant breakfast several times a day for some of my protein. I do have a nutritionalist but don't see her again until April 30. I can start soft foods today. Thanks for your response!

Hi I had gastric bypass on Feb. 19th and everything you are sayng is exactly what I went through including the being cold thing. I too was a person that was always very hot... but not no more. I drink EAS (strawberry flavored) for my protein and it taste great if you like strawberry milk you will like this one. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply! I was thinking that maybe I was sick or something because I'm always cold now. If this last throughout the summer, maybe I'll save on my energy bill(on a/c)!LOL!  Good luck!
