Just wondering how long it took for some of you between the time you had all your releases compleate and the date of your actual surgery. Basicley how many problems did your inc give or how long did you have to wate and for what reason till you actualy had it done. I have Medicare. Anyone with any idea they can give me I would appreciate it. Kathy UPDATED:::3-19-08  I have all my clearances and releases complete. There is nothing left for me to get signed off on.  If you read my profile you will see I have been tying to get a bypass for over 4 years now. I am just waiting for the call now for the date. Was wondering how long some people waited from the time you completed everything to the date of surgery. Kathy

Hi Kathy, I had Dr Tillquist also. I did the nutrition class in November before I even saw Dr Tillquist. They submitted my paperwork to the insurance in December and I got approved within 24 hours. I had surgery in February. of that year. I am 6 years out and have lost 155 pounds.  Carla Klein a Florida transplant!!!!!

It is really so different depending on the insurance and doctor you have. Some need one year documented dieting before they are approved. If I had to guess most people it takes about 6 months for the whole process. Some people have had to wait years to wade through insurance problems though. I was anxious to get it done too. Just remember what the end goal is and tell yourself that no matter how long it takes that it's worth doing. And then there are us at the military bases where it can be around a month. I had my first appointment with my primary care doctor to get a referral for the general surgery clinic in December 2006...I had my surgery on March 15th 2007. It took me a month to get in to see the surgeon...one month to get all my appointments/tests/classes finished and one month to have the surgery.  Good luck! ~ Christal
