hi everyone... I had surgery on Feb. 19 with Dr. Brown. He is a great Doctor! I just wanted to know if there was anyone out there that surgery around or about the same time?? I am really hating the food! I don't know how much longer I can keep eating creamy soups, jello, mashed potatoes, carnation breakfast drinks!!! I really want to chew something. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks Debra

Try putting something in the blender or magic bullet.  I ate chili and also a chicken casserole that way.  No chewing but I got the flavor!

My mom pureed spaghetti that way. She did it because she also has to do it for herself too (She & I live in the same apartment building but different apartments ).

No chewing there either (And the pasta noodles are similar in size to what you'd find in those Lipton Cup-O-Noodles boxes), but it still had the flavor.

That said, I can't wait to have my first post-op Subway six inch Veggie Delight (Now THAT would be real food).

Oh I remember those times! I am a day shy of my one year anniversary. There are going to be times where the food is just awful and your sick of having to deal with all the details of the diet you need to have and what your body tolerates. But you get through it. The bad times get less and less. You get to eat and tolerate better and better foods. It's hard to say what you should try because everyone is soooo different. What one person can eat is terrible for another. You just have to try a few things. Try only one item at a time so you can tell if you tolerate it or not. Sometimes it can take an hour for too much sugar, too much food, eating too quickly, and all sorts of other changes to hit you. Your body will let you know if it doesn't want whatever your trying to do. I didn't eat anything at all for the first month. I had sugar free popsicles and tried to drink water...needless to say I had to go to the ER for IVs and had terrible gastric pain once I did start eating. Make sure you drink plenty of good fluids. Take the eating slow and try and find foods you can have that you enjoy. I know it's hard to only have a small spoonfull of something...but it will get better. Stay focused and positive. Good luck!!!! ~ Christal
