Dr. Schoen is my doctor.  He is awesome.  I really like him and he is a wonderful doctor.  My surgery went great and I haven't had any problems.  I was extra pleased because I was afraid that the pain would be bad and I've had those morphine machines before but it didn't help.  He assured me that the machine would be set so that I wouldn't have any pain and he was right.  I think before the doctors didn't take into account that I was a big person, Dr. Schoen did. Trust me, just do what he says and everything will be wonderful.  :-)  I've lost 72 pound since September, including 19 before my surgery on September 6.  Of course, I gained 10 pounds while I was in the hospital which freaked me out but it is totally normal because of the IV's.  It is water weight and comes off in the first 10 days or so. Dr. Schoen is my surgeon - I had the LapBand procedure.  He is excellent, and 9 months out, still very involved in my care.  Also, my experience at University Hospital was great.

I have Dr Schoen - he and his "new" doc, Dr Rothschild, are great, and I absolutely love their entire staff. (Especially Sara, the insurance specialist. Wow!) I just had  RNY surgery last Monday (2/25), and the whole crew has been very supportive and involved since I first started working with them last fall. I had a consult with another doc almost 2 years ago, and while he was OK (not great, just OK), his staff was mediocre at best. I happened across a neighbor who had the same procedure with Dr Schoen, and after hearing her praise him I went to see him. I'm so happy with my choice! My husband and our 10yo daughter really like him, too. DD was nervous, but he and the rest of the staff were so friendly and helpful that she decided to come meet them all and felt a lot better about everything after that. It was wonderful that DD had already met Dr Schoen on surgery day - made the whole thing a lot less threatening to recognize a friendly face! Really, all the docs who checked on me at UCH had a fabulous bedside manner.
