Tell me what I nned to know about after surgery?
I would definetly side on having too much help than not enough. Everyone reacts to the surgery differently...some people are fine right away...some people need major assitance for quite awhile. I was stuck on a couch for 3 weeks unable to really move without my husbands help...and that was on alot of pain medication. I'm one of those sissy people that don't handle surgery well...I have alot of pain. Mainly the first few months are really hard. You are recooperating from a major surgery. You don't have food to help you. Before surgery you have to study what to do after surgery....but after the surgery your having to learn to actually do all of these things...measure foods...go through the different stages...what can I eat...what will my body tolerate...trying to get in your liquids....it's alot all at once. It can be kinda depressing at first for alot of people. But then as time goes by it gets easier day after day...until eventually it's not hard anymore. Then the awesome stuff starts happening and you realise it was all worth it. When people say it was the hardest thing they ever did and the best thing they ever did...they aren't over stating anything. Try the support groups...some of them are awesome. Good luck.
