Help Band befor or after vacation?

I am scedualed for suger on the 13 of december  2007and am off to mexico for a seven day vacation on 1.2.08.  I really am excited to get this done and going but am getting hesitation from my husband.  For those of you who have had the surgery laperscopicly what do you think.

I had hesitation from my husband until right before surgery.  LOL  If you are like me you will not get your drain out for 10 days, so you won't want to go in the ocean.  You will be feeling pretty good by then, but the wound from the drain will still be sore I would think.  Other people may have had a different experience.  If it were me, I'd wait till after the vacation for the surgery or postpone the vacation for a couple of weeks if you can.

did you have lapproscopic surgery or afull insision?

I had laproscopic gastric bypass surgery.  If you are having the lapband it might be just fine to go aon vacation, because that is less invasive.

I don't think I would have felt like going on a vacation that soon after surgery.  It took me a few weeks to feel like myself again and it takes awhile to get used to the types of foods you can and cant eat.   If it was me, I would wait on the surgery or the vacation. Chrissy

Hi Heather! i had dr K as a surgeon also!   Everyone is different on thier recover times...i could have probably handled vacation that much time after surgury, but some wouldnt be able to... The hard part will be you will still have to be on the prescribed diet and it will be harder in mexico than elsewhere. You would also probably be able to not do much more than lying around soaking in the mexico sun (sounds terrible huh?)
