Hi, Welcome to beautiful Colorado, the best of both worlds.  Nice sunny weather and beautiful winters.  We just had our first snow on Sunday.  I got 7 inches here.  So I guess the important piece to know is your insurance type, as they may have restrictions on who you can see, then go from there.  I am going to use Dr. Thomas Brown out of St. Lukes but Kaiser also uses Dr. Frank Chae also very good.  Both of them are centers of excellence for bariatric surgery.  Are you considering surgery for her while she is still a teenager or for sometime after she turns 18?  This will probably make a difference in your process I would guess.  Hope your move goes smooth and you enjoy Denver. We're considering it before she turns 18 because we would like to try to get insurance approval as soon as possible.  But, if the insurance denies it then we will have to wait.  Thanks for giving me Dr. Lukes and Dr Chae's name. Julie

I used Dr. Chae as well.  He founded the lap version of RNY in Colorado so he is very good at what he does.  I think he does deal with teenagers though because I remember him commenting on that to my mom when she was asking him the million of questions she had.  I know he mentioned that they just want to make sure they are fully grown before they can have this surgery.  At 16, your daughter will most likely be okay.   Kerri

Dr Snyder is one of the best in the field.  Dr Kirshenbaum has not been doing them that long.  I had a friend that went to Dr Chae and Dr Brown and heard great things..  You should go to the free seminars they offer and you will get to meet them.  I highly recommend Snyder.

I would highly recommend either Dr. Frank Chae or Dr. Michael Snyder; both have excellent reputations.  I do not know their policy on teens.  I am sure you could check out their web pages or call them to find out.  I would not recommend Dr. Tillquist.
