Hey all I am new here.  I am having surgery with Dr. Snyder.  I am really leaning toward the lap band.  I haven't got to meet the nutritionist yet and I just wandered if anyone could give me any insight as to what his post-op diet is like?  Any advice welcome.

First off...congrats on your decision and for choosing Dr. Snyder!  You will LOVE him...he's amazing. :-)  You said that you're "leaning toward Lap-Band"?  I had RNY...and I'm glad that I did, but it's not for everyone.  The only advise I have for you if you're still undecided, is do your homework and make certain that you know what you want. ;-)  It's a life changing experience and you certainly don't want doubts. :-) Kim is the nutritionist...she's nice.  His post-op menu and plan is pretty easy to follow and smart. :-) You will receive a book at your nutrition class that will give you all of the information on post-op instructions and such.  It will answer a LOT of your questions. :-)  His team is very thorough...so take comfort in that.  You've made a great choice in surgeons. :-)

You are so right I do absolutely LOVE Dr. Snyder...no not in a psychotic or stalker way, but he is awesome.  I had my consultation with him on Wednesday the 26th and I am so excited to get it done.  Still have a couple of consultations to go to before I can have it.   I say leaning toward because I am worried about some of my past surgeries and what that would do to the RNY (had a bowel resection 10 years ago)  but I worry about losing the weight that I need to lose with the band...thats why I say leaning toward. Thanks for your reply.  I can't wait to go to the nutrition session.

Dr. Snyder did my lap band surgery in March.  He is wonderful, so is Pete, Kim and Amanda( the nurse).  His post op diet isn't too bad, it was pretty easy to get used to.  The first week was protein shakes, water, crystal light, jello, etc... The second week you can add refried beans, egg beaters, cottage cheese, puddings, and yogurt. Then you can go to pureed foods Then at 3-4 weeks post op you can gradually move to solid foods. I love having the lap band and am so happy to have made this decision, but it is a decision up to you and Dr. Snyder.   Good luck with your surgery! Chrissy

This will be a choice you and your Dr. will make together based on your medical need and what you will be comfortable.  De. M. Shieh just did my RNY and it went very well.  So know what ever you choose the Dr will have your best interst at heart.  Plus do not be shy ask lost of questions....
