Hi Everyone, sorry I have been MIA for a while.  Well I am down 67 pounds in 3.5 months and over the past three weeks, I have been going to the gym 4-5 times a week.  Well, since I started working out, my weight loss has nearly stopped, I have been the same weight all week and I have busted my butt at the gym.  My scale says my fat % is going down and I know muscle weighs more than fat, yada, yada, yada, but I am getting frustrated.  Has anyone else had this happen to them??

Yes, I was losing 5 pounds a week, and now that I am working out more, I am doing good to loose 2 pounds in a week.  I have been told to up my water and am making sure that I am measuring my food again.  It has helped, as I did lose 3 pounds this week, so maybe try upping your water and watch those portions.  Good Luck

Thanks Gayle!  I will try your suggestions, even though it feels like I can't possibly get anymore water in, but I am sure I am not getting enough.  You look great by the way!  Keep up the good work!! :)Anne

Well everyone says the same thing..."yada, yada, yada"...for a reason. I am only 6 months out so I am no expert. But 3.5 months out isn't a time to be freaking out about a small stall in weight loss. Oh don't get me wrong...it's very easy no matter where you are in the process to freak out. But you have to try to not freak out is my point. Try and focus on the postive...you've lost 67 lbs...that's awesome! Also if your going from not working out to working out alot (4-5 times a week) then your body has been starving and then it is now working out alot...your body is going to shut down the weight loss and try to preserve itself for the hard times your are putting it through. Also I have learned that if something isn't working...then try something else. I've heard and read that working out too much can stall weight loss. That doesn't mean it's bad...because your becoming healthier and gaining muscle...but it's fustrating when your goal is weight loss. Maybe now is the time not be weighing yourself every day or even every week and concentrate on other goals. I have also had many times when my weight loss will stall for a long time...so far the longest is for a month...then all of a sudden weight starts falling off again. Normally right after I buy a new pair of jeans that I like! I don't pay attention to the scale anymore...I have goals of size of pants and how I feel. It helps me not freak out. Well...good luck with everything and congrats on your good work.

Thank you so much for your reply!  You are SO right, I just think sometimes I need to hear an explanation from somebody else to validate what I know is the logical answer.  I will definately stop weighing myself everyday and just keep up the exercise and the water.  Thank you again!  Congrats on your loss also, you look great!  :)Anne

You might send a message to Terri on the RNY board and ask her for the calorie cycling plan she uses....your body might just need a change up. Kristi
