3 day preop diet!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi, Teri!
Does your doc want you on sugar-free/low calorie liquids? You might try Gatorade (if allowed), or Propel ~ your electrolytes may be low. And even tho you're on a liquid diet, given the heat here lately, you may be a little dehydrated. If you're known to have blood-sugar issues, I would call your doc for suggestions.
(My dentist wouldn't want me to tell you this, but when I have to have a crunch, I chew on ice cubes ~ i let them sit in ho****er first, so they soften up a little....Shhhh!)
Yours,
Nancy
I wish I had great advice for you, unfortunately I don't. I know the 3 day liquid diet it tough, but you need to keep reminding yourself that this struggle is for the surgery!!!! This is the last hoop you have to jump through before you earn your seat on the losers bench. Make sure you are drinking water CONSTANTLY as this will "trick" your tummy into feeling full. Take this one moment at a time and know that you are stronger than your hunger!! I used my 3 day liquid diet to prove to myself that I was ready for this surgery and strong enough to be successful at it. I promise you will be fine and before you know it you will be waking up in the recovery room having lost that sense of hunger! Good Luck to you, I know you'll do great!

Teri,
I had the hardest time with my thee day pre-op diet. I was starving too. I kept thinking "How am I going to do this if I can't even make it three days". But after the surgery I did fine, I had to remind myself to eat. I know it is hard but hang in there. That three days was the hardest for me. I don't know how people can do it 2 weeks before surgery. I had Dr Brown at PSL and was very satisfied with him as well as the hospital. Good luck.

THANK you so much for the words of encouragement!!!!! Today seems a little better. I added 1 tsp of protein powder (unflavored) to my broth and it stopped me from getting the shakes. I too, am using this to prove to myself I have the power over my hunger and am strong enough to do this! I have had very good luck with getting "cleaned" out. Sorry to be so personal! Rebecca, did you like Dr. Brown? I changed from Dr. Chae to Dr. Brown because I don't like St. Joes hospital. I am looking for anyone that has had Dr. Brown. He seems fabulous! THANKS everyone for the replies!!!! I'm half way there! Surgery at 730am MONDAY!
I have to do it for 2 weeks and I'm starving. I haven't been able to do it completely. I can do the liquid okay until late afternoon and evening. Then I want to attack the fridge! I have completely cut out sugar and have cut my calories more than in half, but have only been able to do 1 full day of only liquids. I won't be able to handle it if I'm hungry like this after surgery and now I wonder if I should be doing it. My surgery is scheduled for Sept. 6th.
