Penrose Question
Pre-op diets and bowl preps often depend on the surgeon, not the hospital. I had Dr. Fedorak and didn't have any pre-op diets. I also didn't have a bowel prep (thank God). I had a central line inserted while in surgery because my veins were so difficult to find. I'm not sure if that is the same as a PICC line.
No pre-op diet at all with Colorado Springs Surgical grop. I asked about it specifically and was told that they had gret success without it so were not going to change at this time As for the picc line...well that seems to be common. I had a central line and the reasoning was that IF something were to go wrong, they already had a line in.
Good morning!!! I also had my surgery with Dr. Fedorak (who rocks by the way) and I didn't have to do any of that pre-op diet or bowl prepping (thank GOODNESS). lol
I like the two above also had a central line inserted once I was out (so I couldn't tell you how badly it did or did not hurt - I do not like needles). The lady who tried to stick me prior to surgery left me badly bruised in THREE places... she couldn't get a single vein, and trust me I have them I used to give blood regularly.
Never the less, I also did not have a PICC line. I don't believe that any of the Colorado Surgeon's group uses the PICC line, I think the central line is standard.
Anyhow good luck to you!! I had my surgery on July 2nd and I'm already down 27 pounds. Yipppeeeeee!!! : o)
