OT Moving Denver area need help
We are moving to the Denver area early next summer. Looking for suggestion on areas.
Heres what I know I want ( I THINK). Newer house post-1990s 2500Sq feet. 4 bedrooms 3 baths., basement for MIL( her request) Want to be 1/2 hourish from Denver and away from the mountains(snow) so I am looking to stay east of Denver. I want at least 2 acres of land more is OK too. I have been looking at Brighton, Thorton, taxes are higher there though. Also Elizabeth and Parker. Elizabeth is a bit further away. Is the Airport a problem for Parker residents? Price 300K -350K we are paying cash don't want to go any higher. I will more than likely be workining in Commerce City at the new stadium.
Where should I be looking
Just a suggestion, sometimes the planes get hit worse with snow than being closer to the mountains. They also get hit with some pretty wicked winds. It will blow the snow horizontally and you wind up with HUGE drifts. Just something to keep in mind, but in all actuallity, you can never really predict what kind of weather you'll get in Colorado. It likes to keep ya guessing and on your toes.
I live in Colorado Springs, and I'm not too familiar with the Denver area. Good luck with your transition.
I think you may be very hard pressed to find that much land, without a house, for that little money. I'm not as familiar with Denver as I am with Colorado Springs, Monument, Castle Rock, but in these areas $300-350K might get you about a half acre to an acre without a house on it, nor well, nor septic, and probably only 3-5 trees.
Don't go too far East or you'll get a lot of wind, too.
I am on the other side of the mountains( western slope) and don't know a lot about the Denver area, but what about up toward Greeley or Loveland. It might be too far away from the airport, but do know that people are having a hard time selling land and houses there.
Good luck and welcome to Colorado!
Chrissy
Yes, to get the land you are going to have to move far away from the city. And this city is not an easy communter city so I would not really consider moving that far out and trying to go back each day for work. It will kill ya....
Also, the previous poster is correct, sometimes the plains are hit harder in the winter with the winds, and in the summer with the T-storms. I would never personally live in Denver again. I lived there for a few years and its one of the worse. Colorado Springs is a great place as it is not to big yet and you can still get just about everywhere in 1/2 hour. You can also find places like you want around here still.
But good luck with your search and move. I hope you find what you are looking for!
