I had RNY about 8 weeks ago and have lost 49 pounds and 31 inches from my body. I actually have less gas than before surgery and it rarely ever smells (thank goodness!!) I also have not had any hairloss yet. You should keep in mind that not everyone has the same issue after the surgery and most of the time the side effect like gas and hairloss are short term and will stop once you've reached goal. I would much rather be thin and healthy and have thinning hair than be MO again. Trust me whan I say that the side effects and sacrafices are worth the weight loss. If your biggest reason for not having any weight loss surgery is hair loss and gas than I would say you are not ready to have a revision. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but to me it seems a little silly that you have such severe gastric reflux, but you're worried about thinning hair. I think you need to do a lot more research on the procedures available to you and weigh the pros and cons of having the surgery or having the comorbidities return. Good Luck!!! Morgan

no I am not uncertain about getting it done.  Just scared I work with a girl who had it done but think a lot of her problems are because she doesn't adhere to a lot of the restrictions.  like she eats a lot of sweets, she takes a ton of vitamins but don't know if she has taken them all along or just now that her hair is falling out.  When I had my VBG there were not many choices for wls.  So I don't know which one is best for me.  I agree I don't wanna keep going down this road.  So I quess I will just try and find a doctor and see what he recommends.  Who was your doctor? Thanks  Samantha

My surgeon is Dr. Michael A. Snyder at Rose Medical Center. He has an amazing WLS program filled with education and support groups. Both my father and I have had our surgeries with him and my uncle is in the approval process with Dr. Snyder. I wouldn't have gone with anyone else. I speak on the patient panel at his seminars often, I think it would be a good idea for you to attend a seminar. His website is http://www.denverbariatrics.com it has all of the info about the seminars and the staff. Check it out and see what you think. If you have any further question feel ree to send me a personal message!! Good luck and I hope you find the info you're looking for. Morgan

Have you checked out the Vertical Sleeve?  It is a wonderful surgery with few side effects.  Check out the forum on this site.

Yes I saw that but I am wondering if  a VBG can be converted to this.  I am not sure

My understanding is that it can.  I know I have read many posts of those who have had revisions to the sleeve with excellent results.  Why don't you post the question on the sleeve messageboard.  I'm sure you'll get a response.  I know as you research you will find the answer that is best for you.
