I Don't Get It??
I've been visiting my surgery date forum for the past few weeks and I just don't understand some of the regulars. We all had surgery at some point in April and they are already talking about eating pizza, breadsticks, entire sandwhiches, and icecream. First of all I can still only eat about 2 ounces, how are they eating an entire slice of pizza?? And I thought we were supposed to be staying away from high fat/high carb foods?? I was really hoping to find support from those in the same place as me, but I'm finding it's just irritating to read ANYTHING on that forum. Am I completely out of line here?? AM I taking this WLS too seriously ( if that's possible)??? Thanks for letting my rant!!!
Morgan
Hi Morgan, NO you are not taking this too seriously, remember that we are all different, and jsut maybe they had a different kind of surgery. I have heard, that those who had the DS did not really change their style of eating much at all. Not sure if that is fact or fiction, but if you are following your doctors plan, then you are on the right track for you. Good Luck and continued success Gayle
Morgan,
I don't think you can really take WLS TOO seriously. Yes, one that has had WLS of any type really should be steering away from high fat/carb foods. That is what got most of us to the point of needing WLS. WLS of any type is a tool to help you re-train yourself to eat better and healthier. Now, if they are eating these things in moderation, that's not quite so bad. I personally would not make it a routine to eat pizza and ice cream, but if I have a taste for it, I'll eat it. Fortunately, I can't eat half a pizza like I use to, and ice cream doesn't really agree with me anymore.
Anyway, don't take it to heart how others are working their tool. You do you, follow your surgeon's plan and you should do just fine.
