Hello everyone!  Me again!  Well, I got all my bariatric vitamins and so far can tolerate most, except for the chocolate calcium lozenges, they are AWFUL, in my opinion!  Has anyone found a good substitute????  Anne

I have the BA cinnamon ones and I can't stand those either so I just started using the SF viactiv chews and those are really good.

So, are those okay as far as the absorption?  Have you talked to Kelly about them?  If not, I might just ask, because I just can not tolerate the others!  Thanks!  Anne

Hey Lori, I just got off the phone with Kelly regarding the calcium issue,  She said the problem with the Viactiv is it is Calcium Carbonate, instead of Calcium Citrate, which is what we need.  She said to break up the Calcium Lozenges into like 6-8 pieces, basically cru**** and swallow it with water, that way you don't really taste it and it will still absorb well in our system.  So, just wanted to give you a heads up.  :)Anne

I haven't talked to her yet but I do know they are calcium citrate which is what we are supposed to have.  If you talk to her let me know what she says.  I figure it has to be better than nothing because I can't choke down the BA ones it feels like dirt in my mouth!

I simply don't have the money for the Bariatric Advantage vitamins.  I purchase the Wal-mart brand Calcium Citrate and take 5 or 6 of them a day.  I simply swallow them like you would any other medication or vitamin.  As a matter of fact, all my vitamins come from Wal-mart.  I take one prenatal vitiman in the morning with an iron supplement, B-1 and Folic Acid tablet.  I use the sublingual B-12 liquid.  I make sure to take the first calcium pill of the day 2 hours after the iron supplement in the morning.  I'm two years out from surgery and all my blood tests come back normal so everything I'm taking is working.   I've talked to Kelly and she's OK with this as long as my levels are all OK.  She suggests Bariatric Advantage since they have been specifically designed for people with gastric issues.

I started out with those mint ones and they were really bad.  I switched to the chocolate and couldn't stand sucking on them until they dissolved so Kelly told me I could just chew them up.  That made them tolerable at least. Kerri
