pregnancy after gastric bypass

As of June 1, 2007, I will be two years out from my gastric bypass surgery. I found out yesterday that I am pregnant. Not only do I have the first time pregnancy freak out jitters..but add to that I'm concerned about nutrition. My concern is that the baby and I get enough nutrition. They gave me a pre-natal vitamin to take, but it doesn't seem to dissolve quickly enough to be fully absorbed. I am looking for advice and just reassurance. I am sure that I am not the only person to have gone thru this, but I'm scared. Does anyone have any suggestions about vitamins, nutrition, anything of help actually.

Hi Michelle- Congrats! Between your GI surgeon and OB-GYN doc, they should be able to advise you. Many of the minerals and vitamins that we take are not completely or are slowly absorbed by our new anatomy. I take prenatal vitamins, as that's sufficient for an older woman who is not pregnant, I don't know what your vitamin needs will be now. By the way, first pregnancy jitters is perfectly normal; you just have an extra thing to get jittery about.
