Workout Change suggestions

I went into today for my 3 month post op appointment and was pleasently surprised when I stepped on the scale. I have officially lost 60 lbs since my surgery date!! Now the Doc wants me to change my workout and get away from what he says is the easy treadmill and weights. He said that I better be sweating and cussing him out and if there is not pain then I should not be doing. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what you are doing for "intense" workouts? I would like to get started on this soon and I am having a hard time because there are no 24 hour gyms near by and I need to do something at 4 o'clock in the morning before I go to work.

Have you thought about talking to a personal trainer? If you have some weights at home, they should be able to help you work out a sweating, cussing program you could still do at home! Or order The Firm workouts--they use weights and steps and are a killer! We have the same surgery date! Congrats on the 60 lbs.!

Yes, I am currently talking to a personal trainer but they are not giving me a lot of direction without some money so I am working on financing that. Thanks I am excited about the weight loss I just wish that I could see it a little bit more.

Well you could always try one of this video tape workouts. I know back in the day tae-bo used to kick my butt. I worked up a pretty good sweat with that one. Plus it's easy to do early in the morning and at home. Kerri

Hey Danielle, Congrats on the 60lbs. Hope the clothes are working out for you. I will have some more soon. Have you tried "the firm' workout, I really work up a sweat when I do it. Too bad we don't live closer so we could do it together. It would be great to have a workout buddy. Hope all is well. Danielle

You can work up quite a sweat on that treadmill. Increase the incline. That gives you resistance and increases your heart rate. Hand weights are a good start. Go buy yourself a swiss ball and use that too. Sparkpeople.com has some good video demos on how to use the swiss ball and weights together to get a good strength training.

If you have a playstation, you can get the game Kinetic, which has a huge variety of great workouts of many different difficulties. I also play Dance Dance Revolution, which is GREAT cardio if you add weights to your arms.
