Hello, I am scheduled for RNY Feb. 26th with Dr. Scott Fisher. I am so excited. My passion is horses, however I've been riding less and less because of my weight. I can't wait to get back to it. Can anyone talk to me about recovery and activity? I'm hoping to be riding in 5-6 weeks. Realistic?
Hi,
Congrats on your upcoming surgery. Do you know that your insides are still pretty much raw for 6 months? You are basically not suppose to do much for at least 3-5 weeks since that is what they want you to do after surgery. With the bouncing around you could do much damage. It is necessary to ask your surgeron. You really need to take it easy for a long period of time. To be in a hurry now could not be good for u.

Dr. Fisher did my surgery. I just loved him! I think riding in 5 or 6 weeks may be pushing it a bit. I felt really tired for the first six weeks. I had my surgery at the age of 58 so was a little older than many. I also spent a day in ICU on a vent so that may have made me feel a little more tired. Take it easy and allow your body time to heal. Trust me, there will be lots of time for all those things you have not been able to do due to your weight. You are about to get your life back. Good luck!
