Forgot to tell you I'm home!
Oh geeze, I forgot to post on the local board that I came home Thursday. Surgery was Monday, it went very well, no surprises or anything.
So far I've been enjoying my 2 T per meal meals. Compare that with the pre-surgical whole-pizza meal...hmmmm......
I've had peanut butter, yogurt, pears, peaches, tuna, cheese, v8, apple juice, apple sauce, cream of wheat, yogurt and some other assorted stuff. No issues at all so far. Just do not ever, ever, place green sf jello in front of me. I've never been a jello gal and icky is all I can say!
I am setting the timer and being vigilant about taking a half hour to eat, and stopping/starting my h2o 30 min before/after eating. Also working to ensure I get my 64 ounces of fluid in. I love herbal tea so that helps, too.
It was soooooo nice hearing from and SEEING some of you while I was there.
Thanks for all the kind wishes and prayers.
Liz

Hi Liz,
Jodi called today!! I have my review appointment tomorrow and she said Fisher is scheduled out about 2 weeks so my surgery should be in two weeks!!! I am so excited! There is so much I want to do before then....clean the whole house for starters. I already bought new exercise shoes... It is really going to happen!!! Yippee!! Glad to hear you are doing well...I am suprised what you can eat...I thought I was going to be on liquids for the first few weeks...keep in touch!!

Wow, Liz!
You are so much more adventurous than I! I certainly haven't tried nearly that amount of different varieties yet. I seem to live on peanut butter, yogurt, and cottage cheese at this point. Sharon told me that I could probably try tuna and other soft fish towards the end of this week.
So, how are you getting those pears and peaches into your meals? Do you puree, and have them after you eat some protein?
And goodness, I know I should know this....but if we have broth, is that counted as a liquid? Same with sugar free pospicles or jello?
Did you already have your 1 week follow up? How are things going for you?
Keep up the good work!

Hi Liz,
Welcome home!!!!! I am home in Colorado for a week or so. I got home last Wednesday from chicago and will go back to chicago on Sunday to start my new job.
I havent worked in 4 years. I am excited but not excited to be away from my husband.
I will be 5 years out next week and am down 150 pounds as of today.
Welcome to the other side and have a great time shopping as the pounds melt away.

Dear Liz
So glad to hear you are home and doing well. This post op diet thing is a challenge, but you seem to be managing quite well. I am five weeks out and still doing soft solids. Pretty sure I can't handle any more than that right now. My stomach seems to give me 'signals' if I even smell meat cooking. It kind of lurches a little, like "don't even think about it." I still do not have any feelings of hunger whatsoever. I get head hunger, but actual hunger pangs? Not even once. Right now I don't seem to mind, but sooner or later I am sure it will hack me off. I started out at 269 lb on Nov 17th, my first visit with the surgeon. Today I weigh 233 lb so I am pretty happy with my progress. I only weigh myself once a week, and I'm really not struggling with anything yet. Just remember to go slow and you'll do fine. And again, congrats! And welcome to the Losers Bench!

I had heard that tea's actually dehydrate you and do not count towards daily water intake. I heard that your actually supposed to drink an equal amount of water on top of tea intake to balance it out that doesn't count towards daily water intake. It's kinda scared me away from drinking any tea after my surgery...but I can't remember where I heard or read that information from. I know that if you add water to food or protein shakes that it doesn't count for water intake. Popsicles don't count. I imagine that any kind of more liquid is better than something that's not liquid...but I think they want us to drink as much as possible and not try and skimp out by counting other things. I am not sure though. All I know is we are supposed to drink as much as possible.
Congratulations on all of your hard work. I am a suger free jello kinda girl so I am hoping I still like it after my surgery.
