Help!
I have decided I am ready to start the process, however the first door was already closed in my face. My primary care physician has given me a referral for a surgeon, but my insurance (Kaiser) does not allow for this surgery based on my current policy. The good news is our policy changes in February, so my husband will look into adding it. However is there away around the first denial from them?
Hi I am also a Kaiser patient and 3 months postop. I would call the weight managment program and leave a message on the weight loss surgery option. Ask for someone to call you back and ask them.(Make sure you talk to someone from that dept. Not member services.) I've been told they tell people that Kaiser doesn't do weight loss surgery. Did you send off for the packet or just call and ask member services????? Don't give up. Feel free to drop me a message with any other ????

Your PCP can probably assist you with this since it's for health related reasons (why the hell else would anyone do this??).
If you are insured through your employer and your employer self-insures, then they can pick and choose any coverage they want because the insurance company is only administering the plan, they did not actually write the plan.
I have Kaiser through my husband's employer (Lockheed-Martin) and the surgeon's office told me Kaiser is the best one to have. I know that some of the United Healthcare policys cover WLS in full, too.
