So many questions
My name is Candy I have been thinking about surgery for about a year. I have researched it alot and have a couple of friends that have had it done. My BMI is 40.9 I am about 5 foot 4 3/4 inches, weigh 240 on a good day I am not sure what they consider comorbities. Can somebody answer these for me. I will state what I have. A very high cardiac risk in my family. planter facseitis ( Surgery on my feet only option) other than about 100lbs weight loss according to my foot surgeon. My knees and hips are so bad that I won't go up and down the stairs anymore ( which interfers with my job) at risk of diabetes and I probably have sleep apnea. With these pre-risk would I qualify
Hi Candy,
Comorbities would be diatetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure. BMI of 40 and 100 lbs over weight is definately a reason to get this surgery.
I had the surgery 1-20-06 I'm coming up on one year out and I can truely tell you it's the best thing I ever did for myself. I'm 5'6 1/2" before surgery I weighed 245lbs I was diabetic. Today I weigh 148lbs no diabetes and feel like a totally new person.
Good luck with your journey.

If you have weight bearing arthritis, this counts as a co-morbidity, also have your blood work done, you may be diabetic or borderline and not even know it. Do you have asthma or allergies? Breathing probablems are extremely dangerous for the over weight. Do you have high blood pressure? Gerd? Weight bearing incontinence? Every problem you have, get it documented thru your Primary Care Physician. Good Luck.
