Hi Mary Jo! Thank you for your response! I'm assuming that you meant "9-25-05?" If not this surgery is FANTASTIC!!! :-) What kind of WLS did you have? How has it affected how you live your life and your relationship to food? Did anything in particular bother you?

Hi Rebecca, I live in Rifle and am also trying to get the lap band surgery. I was denied by my insurance and am trying to fight it. So hopefully I will be able to get it. We are so close to each other! I dont know anyone else right around here that has had to lap band, only the bypass. Talk to you later, Chrissy

Hi Rebecca, Dont be scared, The Lap Band works. I was not elegible to get the Lap Band 4 and 1/2 years ago. It still wasnt approved by the FDA. I had a revision from a VBG (Verticle Banded Gastroplasty in 1985 and it had a staple line disruption) To an RNY. I have lost 140 pounds and I have my life back. I live in Centennial colorado and Dr Richard Tillquist did my surgery. He does Lap Band now too. Also Chrissy you might get in touch with Dr Gerald Kirshenbaum he has a cash price of 9,000 or 10,000 for the Lap band and that includes his price and the hospital inf you cant get the insurance to pay for it. He is in Aurora Colorado. He has had excellent results. Carla Klein

Congratulations on having your surgery date! I am only 6 days out from Lap band. I had so much less pain then I expected. What I did not expect was my rib felt broken and it made breathing tough. I had to stay the night at the hospital and come home on oxygen. That is a challenge but so is being so dang fat all the time right? Good luck and keep in touch. Jill
