well, I just wanted to say thanks to all of you and your support. I will not be joining you for wls. I have been told that there is nothing I can do. I am just not in rough enough shape to qualify for it. Yes I am 128 lbs over weight but that just does not matter to tricare, if you do not have a medical condition to go with it. So back to dieting and tryig it again. who knows maybe it will work this time, how may time have i said that. well, thanks again Love Ya all and my heart is with you all Anna

That has to be a real blow to you. I'm not sure what Tricare is, but if you have the option of a different insurance, it "might" make a difference for you.

anna, keep trying! tricare WILL approve! fight the denial! if your dr. knows how to word things, it can be done!! i have a friend, if you would like his email, let me know, he told me from the get-go, do NOT accept a "no" from tricare! appeal it! do you have back pain? joint pain? those are co-morbidities! the choice is yours, accept or FIGHT! i have had no problems with tricare, maybe i just lucked out with the right dr! who knows! good luck & fight girl! bonnie

I agree w/ Bonnie...don't give up!! There are ways to get around the whole "requirements" thing w/ insurance. It's all about what your doctor tells them. There are MANY items that can be listed as comorbidities...you should check into that, talk to your doctor and don't accept no as an answer. Stay strong Anna! Maria

Anna, They have to have an appeal process... it is required by law. If they won't give you the information call the Insurance commision and they can give it to you. You may need to follow up with additional doctors and create your need for the surgery. Have you had issues with stress incontinence, sleep apnea, diabetes, insulin resistance, high blood pressure, dependant edema (swelling of your lower legs)??? All these items can help your case. You may just need to start by seeing your providers and getting such things documented. DO NOT GIVE UP !!!! If you need help with the appeal e-mail me and I can see what I can do to help. I have experiance as a nurse with insurance appeal processes and can possibly give you some insight. This is not an easy process but it is also not an impossible one. You have to fight for what you want and the squeeky wheel does eventually get the grease!!!!
