Hi everyone....I am moving back to Denver from MI at the end of this month. I am going to have DS surgery in San Francisco hopefully soon. I am looking for a really good PCP in Denver who has WLS patients and would work well with my surgeon in CA. I also have type 2 diabetes. Any and all help is welcome!

Hi Jami! We are going to have to start our own OH DS support group! Okay, well, I'm not in Denver -- but only 2 1/2 hours away. We could/should get together! As for a DS friendly PCP... don't know. I was very lucky to have my own PCP be a very forward thinking, teachable, pro-surgery outside of US - kind of guy. I am blessed! I just came to the Colorado boards to find out about insurance post-surgery and saw your post. Anyway -- nice to see you! Lola

Hi Lola! Thanks for the post, it's good to see I wont be the only DS'er in CO I am really bummed out because my PCP here in MI is the best Dr. I have ever had. My live in boyfirend and I are having problems and so that is what is bringing me back home to Denver. I had a great DS surgeon here as well. Oh well, things happen for a reason, and I just am going to have to take things as they come. At least I will be with my family and friends. What part of the start are you in?

I'm up in Granby -- outside of Winter Park/Fraser. Know it? So are you actually from Colorado? I grew up in Denver myself -- well north of. We lived in Commerce City and I went off-and-on to Adams City Jr High and High School (in between going to private schools)... yes, I was a problem child! You know we have NO DS surgeon in Denver. Dr Anthone in Omaha would have been my choice had my insurance covered me. As it was, I ended up going to Brazil... when are you expecting to get surgery? I can't remember if you have a date yet or not? Shall we start our own 'Colorado Mafia'? Nah, we need something original!

That's so funny...I am from Arvada and know the Granby area. I wish I could have gone to Omaha for my surgery but insurance will only cover it if I go to a "center of excellence". I have Anthem LOL The one you posted about! I am sending all paperwork to a surgeon in SF today. SO hopefully everything will go well!

How insane is this? You are the second one to tell me that Anthem covered the DS -- but won't cover me post DS??? Crazy! Looking forward to meeting you when you come 'home' and get settled in!

My husband grew up in Granby!! My in-law still live there As for a PCP - it just really depends on what part of town you'll be in. My doc is awesome. Her name is Lisa Davidson and she has a lot of WLS patients. She's located at Lowry. Good Luck! Vanessa

Why don't you call some of the Denver GPS surgeons and ask them if they can help you with that. I have a friend that went to Dr. Snyder and they are really into helping GPS patients post surgery. Maybe they can help you out. Also, contact the hospitals. I'll be having mine at Fort Collins and they have open support meetings on a monthly basis at Poudre Valley Hospital and will soon be offering a newsletter. Here is a link to the surgeons with a toll free number to ask for more information. They are really a helpful bunch. http://ncsurgical.net phone:888-699-6272 Here is the hospital number in Fort Collins that works with the Dr.'s in care and follow up with bariatric patients. 1-866-495-7579, leave your contact information and a nurse will call you back (you can use this number from our local calling area). Welcome to our beautiful state.... I'm sure you will find some wonderful Dr.'s here too (even though its hard to give up one that you appreciate so much.) Shirley
