Dr. Thomas Brown
Hi all. Well to give you alitte about me. I was all signed up to have surgery in Nebraska in Feb---well then the medicare rule come down and the Dr. I had picked was not a COE. Then I decided I could not have it as there was no COE Drs. in Nebraska or Kansas (where I live). Well then my back started giving me troubles and the back doctor told me that he would not do surgery to fix my bac****il I had gastric bypass so..... I found Dr. Brown in Denver and I am wondering if any of you know any thing about Dr. Brown or has any one had him as a doctor?? Please share. Thanks
Robin
Dear Robin,
I have not met Dr. Brown personally yet but, I have my consult with him in mid October. I have read all of the post from his patients and I feel as if he is the best choice. (This is my personal view. And yes, I have looked into other surgeons). I was surprised at how fast I was able to get an appointment as well as how helpful his staff has been thus far. I am also on Medicare and live almost 3 hours from Denver.
Also, he has a group on Yahoo. It is a great resource for those of us who haven't had the surgery and looks like a great resource for after the surgery too. You can get the Yahoo group link on his website: coloradobariatric.com
I am seeking any other information about him as well. Mainly the consult with him, dietician, and pschologist? What do each of them go over? Any test on my nutrient knowledge? Psych evaluation? Will I have lab test that day? How long will the wait be to have surgery once I qualify? If anyone can assist me with these questions, I'd greatly appreciate it..
Sincerely,
Kelli
Dr. Brown is doing my surgery next week and I have total confidence in him as a surgeon. I feel like I will be in extremely skilled hands during my surgery journey.
What I like the most about Dr. Brown is that he is straightfoward with you. If you ask him a question, be prepared to hear an honest answer and not necessarily a sugar-coated one! He is very easy to talk to, and his staff keeps the office running smoothly.
I'm also on Medicare, but mine is through an HMO. Lucky for me, Dr. Brown is their contract surgeon, and Presbyterian/St. Lukes is a COE.
Sorry you have to travel for your surgery, but I feel you have made an excellent choice in Dr. Brown.
