WOO HOO, Kaiser is using Penrose now for WLS!

Just got off the phone with Kaiser and they now are using Penrose hospital in Colorado Springs, so this means no more having to travel to Denver! Don't know if I'll be approved or not, but hoping so. Thinking I'll attend the support group to get a feel for things. Liz

Hi Liz, I had my surgery at Penrose and let me tell you, it was great! I had a room with a mountain view and the pneumatic bed that was a dream. They took very good care of me, so if you get to have your surgery there, you're a lucky girl! Let me know if you have any questions! Jill

Thanks, Jill! Who was your surgeon? I'm just really hoping to be approved. I had a physical last week, my BP is great, EKG was fine, but have not gotten the labs yet. My cholesterol has been fine in the past, 179 in January, but was 201 in June. I was surprised, so am waiting to see if that was sort of an "off" test. Not sure about the blood glucose yet. I've been fighting this battle since the day I walked out of high school, and been more than 100 lbs overweight for over 10 years. Liz

I had Dr. Fedorak. If you haven't already selected a surgeon, I strongly recommend him. One of my other good friends also had him. He's complication rate is virtually zero and he's been successfully performing the surgery for years! His office is located next to Penrose.... Ihor J. It's so difficult to wait. Honestly, for me, that was the hardest part. Once I had the surgery, I just kept a positive attitude and gave it my best shot! If you're considering my surgeon, they require you to attend an orientation, so before you even get approval, I'd call and get into the next one! It'll save you some time and they can help you with insurance approval. Let me know what else you need.... Jill

Hi Jill, just so you (an others) know, Dr. Fedorak's office is now IN Penrose. The Colorado Springs Surgical Group is located at 2222 N Nevada ste 5007. My Surgeon is in that group.
