Topic: RE: suport group in San Jose??
Yes!
We have a group that meets every month in San Jose. Both pre-ops and post-ops are involved, and your support person is welcome as well. I will send you a pm with more info.

Topic: RE: San Diego County - Surgeons
I live in Bakersfield and have Kaiser insurance, at the time I had my surgery dont they did not contract with a surgeon locally so I had a choice of either going to a Kaiser surgeon in L.A. or Pacific Bariatric in San Diego, so I had to drive a few hours to get to San Diego but I chose them because I was impressed with their seminar. They come to my town once a month so for post op they basically came to me for a year. I am lucky to say that I have never had an issue, I went back to work 10 days post op. My g.p. at Kaiser is very knowledgeable about wls care and they have a whole bariatric team too. My husband just had a rny June 6th but it was here in Bakersfield, he had some issues but is doing really well now.

Also, do you continue to see your surgeon annually? I read some dont see us after the first year and some see their patients annually for many years.... Also, If a person has complications/pain do they go to their surgeon, ER or family practioner? :) so many questions! lol My husband and I are going to go to both Dr Canery and Pacific Bariatrics seminars.

Thank you Rain Rain and Mrs P. do you all have to have a family Practitioner who is familiar with WLS? Or do you see your Surgeon for stomach/digestion issues, post op. Also Rain Rain, What if you had problems and your Dr Callery was out of town, who would you see? It would be nice if he had other assosiates, other surgeons. Thank you again for all your help :)

I had RNY, but Dr. C does all 3 surgeries. I see good results with the sleeve. Becasue with the sleeve, you can eat more and do not have dumping, patients tend to lose a little less overall and a little slower, (in general) but that can be a good thing depending on your BMI and you particular eating habits.

I am sorry Gus...I ended up with tpn 1,000 calories aday and my legs felt like they were going to bust...I was told that tpn was just a bandage to get me built up to have a feeding tube but the one my gb wants to put in would go through my side with 4 feedings around the clock aday...after doing an laproscopic endoscopy... I have lost all but 2 teeth on top and waiting for insurance approval to get them removed because I have threw up so so many times the acids have/had eat my teeth up...

Hi Gus I was on the iv infusions nourishment line for 4 months...Mine had to be taken out cause I had a temp of 102.9 and was told to get to the ER asap...if there was an infection it could be in my ports and if that was the case it could be the end of me...I had it 24/7 for 8 weeks then down to 20/7 for 8 weeks then down to 16/7 for 8? til my infusion was taken out..
I was told that I could only have infusions in one arm then to the left arm...but they could do it from one arm to the other...But with my temp 102.9 and a white count of 1,700 they were not going to do either one....The Dr that did my gastric bypass for some reason decided to to an endoscopy...and from what he decided while he was in there he would open up my dormante stomach and do the complete revision...I cried of pain where my so called pouch was and under my ribs and I was toldI had a ulcer where my pouch was located...and the Dr that was on call couldn't under stand why I was in so much pain and I told him more than once to call my GB surgeon..but my pcp at the time didn't take time to do so...I have a stricture/ulcers between my intestines and my pouch...
Gus Please let me know how you are doing?
