Its been over six years since we've launched our forums. During this time it has seen thousands of fresh faces, greetings, meetings, partings, arguments, kind words, life transformations, cathartic rants, and simply happy time pass. It has been with us throughout this time, silently observing and facilitating. But like any wise old man, its bones were getting old. Its joints were aching, and it has been needing a new jolt of energy.

A Mobile World
Did you know that over 30% of you visit our website using a mobile device? For those who do visit us via mobile, we owe you a sincere apology, because our forums have been horrendous on a mobile browser. But things have just changed! Our new forums are completely mobile friendly and compatible with iPhone, Android, and pretty much any other modern smart phone.

Each post, topic, and forum shows up beautifully, with the full set of features, and in nice large font. See the screenshots for yourself.

You dont have do anything different, just browse to the forums like you normally would. This means that you can finally put these away:

Not Just for Mobile
The interface on your desktop browser has also been cleaned up a great deal. There is now less clutter on the page, and the overall experience is a lot cleaner. Check out some more screenshots here!

You will notice that each post no longer has 400 buttons below it. Only the buttons that are relevant to each post show up, making your screen space a lot less cluttered. Also, when you reply to another person's post, the entire post is indented inside, making it a lot easier to figure out who has replied to whom.

Moving Forward
And do remember that this is not in any way a be-all-end-all when it comes to the forums. We are in the process of constantly learning and improving upon what we have, and this is just one step along the way.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts on this.

Topic: RE: Clothes ideas during weight loss

Always a good question.  I couldn't have done it without a local consignment store that carried predominately plus size clothes.  I also didn't buy a lot; just what would get me through a week's worth of clothes.  Consignment stores always seem to have jeans and black pants so after I was done with a size, I took the pants back to consign and used store credit to get the next lower size.

You really won't need to buy new until you are at or very close to goal.  Really no need to buy expensive clothes that you might only fit in for a month or two.  Save the Retail Therapy for goal. =)

I live in the SF Bay Area and a place I used (and still visit from time-to-time) is called "All the More to Love" located in Alameda.  Search the internet, including Yelp, for consignment stores near you.

I would imagine anything is possible but doubtful. Call your pcp and ask who you can contact about when the next orientation class is.

I live in Hawthorne...he neighbor

Topic: East Bay Bariatric Meeting Reminder - this Sat. Dec. 15

Hello CA Board,

East Bay Bariatric is an independent peer support group that meets the 3rd Saturday of every month at the San Leandro Hospital.  No need to register, just show up.  Doesn't matter the type of surgery you had/having or what medical group; we really are open to all patients.  See you this Saturday:

Date: Saturday, December 15, 2012
Times: Pre-op/Newbies from 1:15-1:45 p.m.; general mtg from 2-3:30 p.m.
Location: Education Center, San Leandro Hospital (behind the ER), 13855 East 14th Street, San Leandro, CA 94578.

Please bring any WLS-related magazines or products to share with others.  I have a ton of samples from Click to distribute.  Bring water and a shaker to try during the meeting.  Maybe bring some paper cups to share with others.

Security note: skip entering the hospital through the main lobby because if you enter that way, you'll need extra time to go through a security check-in.  Instead, park behind the ER and enter the Education Center through the center's door right off that parking lot.

Thank you for being a part of this support group,

Kimberlee

I heard back from the San Jose group leader - definitely no San Jose meeting this month. Sorry! Most people just were not able to attend. We should be up and running in January, and of course I'll let you know.
