Hi all. I had my RNY in California almost 4 years ago and have since moved to Canada. I am maintaining my weight. YAY for me as I fight with it constantly. I can't eat much at once but I can eat often and that is what makes my weight maintenance difficult. Oh well, I would do the surgery all over again EVERY month if I had to to not be morbidly obese! My question today is that I am hearing and reading online that patients do not have to take chewable vitamins forever. Is this accurate? Can I switch to non-chewable vitamins now? I always know I can rely on this forum for good info~ I once asked for advice on anti-diarrhea meds while on holiday in Spain and someone answered me right away! Great group on here.

I am researching right now on issues related to Skype and providing medical counseling service......Skype is not a secure enough encryption for HIPPA compliance. There may be ways in the future to incorporate some of the visits with tele medicine, but probably not in the near future. I wish there was an easy answer here....it would put less burden on people who need help for sure, and at the same time, there are a lot of medical and ethical issues to consider.....that being said, it does seem like there are ways to use it. Lets not forget though that medicine is all about $$$$$....and that is not saving patients money, it's about keeping the pharmaceutical companies and the medical industrial complex in $$$$$....so probably not a big priority for them. I hope your surgery goes great. I am glad to know it is covered, as I am losing my COBRA right after my surgery, and am in the process of applying for federal disabiliy. My state disabiliy has run out already...so as soon as I have the surgery and the post ops I am probably going to be folllowed at a county clinic myself...I can't afford the payments any more and have no income......thanks for asking the question.

Hi, the support group in Roseville at Sutter Roseville Hospital happens usually on the second Saturday of every month. For more info you can call Sveta at Dr Donald Waldrep's office... best to google it, I don't have the number handy. Its a great group of folks, very friendly, helpful and supportive. I'm just about one and a half months out from my surgery and am feeling wonderful!

I work at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital where he and his staff of surgeons do many surgeries. He is well respected and has a very good reputation in the bariatric community.
I had an overall good experience and the hospital staff was amazing.
