remember that WLS is considered "elective" as well as plastic surgery and it is covered! Any time your Dr puts you out of work, you qualify for state disability....FMLA is different than state disability but most people lump them together. You can take FMLA to take care of a family member or yourself and it keeps your job safe for up to 12 weeks (if caring for yourself) but it doesn't pay you...state disability is how you get paid. So go to the edd.gov website to look up state disability to see if you qualify....hope this helps :D
I havent got it done yet but I called and apparently with a referal from your doctor they will accept straight medi-cal :)

Hello CA Members.
East Bay Bariatric is an independent, peer support group with hundreds of members throughout the bay area and from many surgery types and medical groups. We've been meeting for 12 years now...still hard to believe.
It's meeting time again for East Bay Bariatric:
Date: Saturday, May 18
Times: Pre-op & Newbies Q&A from 2-2:30 p.m. / Everyone from 2:30-4:00 p.m.
Location: Alameda Hospital, Conf. Room C, 2070 Clinton Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501 (enter through sliding doors to the right of the ER)
Please note, this group used to meet at the San Leandro Hospital but that is no longer the case as of January 2013. San Leandro tossed ALL support groups from their hospital (so much for "community relations"). If you see any materials from or in your doctor's offices that mention the old meeting info, please alert them of the location and time change. We still meet the 3rd Saturday of the month but now start at 2 p.m. and not 1:15.

Thanks to you all for the feedback. Dr. Cirangle is definitely a well-known and respected doctor so all the roadblocks to see him were odd to her. She has been procrastinating the last several months out of fear of seeing him because apparently (I later learned) that when she was telling him like a year ago that she thought something was wrong, he was nasty telling her she was "wrong" and even calling her a "failure." Very odd and totally not cool. So she had been afraid to call his office back but her symptoms got worse.
He is now in like four offices each week, including an office in Hawaii so it's a lot trickier to see him now than it was 5 years ago.
She did get brave and went to the office to get an appointment and that finally worked. Nothing has been done yet but hopefully it will soon.
