Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!

Does anyone know a doctor and location that does the lap-band or bariatric procedures in the Northern California area that accepts medi-cal (county/state assistance medical coverage)? Specifically in the Stockton, Sacramento, Modesto area. My doctor says they're out there, but I would have to locate them. He said as soon as I find one, he would make the referral. He absolutely recommends it. So if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Leave me a message here or you can email me at [email protected]

Please leave dr.'s name and address and location..........................Thanks

Topic: Need a primary doctor in Northern California who is familiar with patients who have had WLS

Good morning ladies.  I recently relocated from Florida.  I had RNY in 2003 and other than some low iron issues, have not had any other problems.  However, my physician in Florida was familiar with bariatric surgeon.  I am currently trying to find a primary physician in either the Northern California area (specifically the Oakland/East Bay area) who is familiar with WLS.  I'd appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks ladies!!!

Topic: Primary Care Physician - Los Angeles Area

I'm looking for a new primary care physician who is familiar with the DS surgery. (Mine didn't even know it existed!)

I live in the San Fernando Valley but would be willing to drive 20-30 miles if I can find a really good doctor. Any recommendations?

Topic: RE: Sacramento support groups

For me its simply a matter of trying to keep my focus. I'm transitioning into maintenance and am very worried about regaining anything. My feeling is a once a month meeting is not much time to give up in order to work towards keeping my head screwed on straight, remembering where I've come from and what I've gained. Some meetings are better than others. October will be a special session for a fee held at Sac Food Coop and it will be a cooking class (how to cook bariatric appropriate meals). So, might not be for everyone, but works for me.

Hi there, can you tell me a little more about the Sacramento group?  I'm really unsure about going to a group support meeting, truthfully.  Can you tell me what you get out of it?  Do you find it helpful?  Thank you!

Topic: RE: Dr. Leport (Fountain Valley Ca.)

I chose the lap-band because I felt it was the best procedure  for me, not necessarily because its the only one my insurance would cover.

I did my research and reading as well as talking to several people who have had it done prior to making a decision,  there are just as many  success stories with the lap-band as there are the with the bypass and the sleeve. They all have their pros and cons. I guess it just comes down to ones personal choice.

Yes, i did have surgery on 8/26/13 and so far so good.  I assume things are as they should be at this point in healing. I'm just ending my second week post-op. I have y 2 week appointment nest week.
