I have to participate in a liquid diet for 2 weeks before the surgery. This is day two. I feel like I am going to fall out at my desk. I am drinking the premium protein shakes. They are so sweet it is so hard to choke them down. Today I drank chicken broth for lunch. I do not know how I am going to do this for two weeks. I am taking the multi-vitamin, the chewy calcium and the B12. PLEASE HELP!
I know that I personally wouldn't trust any bariatric surgeon anywhere who claimed a complication rate of 0.0003 %, or whatever ridiculously low number you say he claims (read it on your page). Bariatric surgery is major surgery done on patients who are not, in general, low risk. Reputable, experienced bariatric surgeons in the USA will quote complication rates of over 20%. Of course, that includes minor complications as well as the major ones, but still, no one has a complication rate of less than 1%. It just isn't possible.
I don't know what operation you are considering. There are definitely reputable bariatric surgeons in Mexico. If you are interested in the DS (duodenal switch), the surgeons to contact would be Dr. Ungson or Dr. Aceves.

I am getting so nervous. My surgery is scheduled for March 4 or 11th gotta call tomorrow lol. Nonetheless, I am scared. What if I have complications? What if I freak out when I experience dumping? What if I think it's dumping and it isn't? What if I do not lose weight cuz my sleeve was not done properly? What if I have a bout of depression? What if I look old after surgery? That is one of my biggest fears. Some women look much older. What if I ….I am just straight out scared. What if my head looks bigger after surgery? lol I know people who's head appears bigger after surgery. I just do not want to look like I had the surgery other than the weight loss. HELP ME! Anxiety is truly kicking in
Hi, Monique!
It's great that you finally have insurance that will cover your surgery. Have you researched all the different bariatric operations? If you are interested, there is a practice in San Francisco that does the DS (duodenal switch), and has support groups that are very informative and open to anyone who is interested. There is no fee for the support group, and no commitment involved. It's a great way to learn about ALL your surgical options, and to meet some wonderful people as well. I'll send you a pm with more info.
