Hello I'm now where you are here in this post.. did you get it done? I have medi-cal and live in orange county.. my bmi is 45 and I really don't have many problems but sometimes high blood pressure and sleep apnea but they are not diagnosed ... 

I can say just keep on the ins company. hound them if you must! I did. They probably knew me by first name by the time i was finished with them! lol  If you haven't already, call the health plan youre with and talk to them directly about what they cover and "Who" they will refer you to see. I went to a completely different DR for my consults and was told by them they take my ins... yadda yadda... but in reality the INS sent me to someone completely different. Luckily he was an amazing surgeon! Good luck on your journey. Keep me updated !!!! 

I didn't know yet last year in October, but I ended up on Health Plan of San Joaquin through Medi-Cal. Not sure what that changes for me as opposed to just having straight Medi-Cal, but I figure there might be a few costs along the way. I'm signed up for a seminar in August with Dr. Coates (both Jr. and Sr.) & Dr. Coirin. Both Dr. Coates do the DS now, but Dr. Coririn does not. I haven't heard or found anyone else around here that does the DS (except for Dr. Rabkin in SF).
