Topic: Anyone in San Diego want to attend free Scripps WLS seminar??

Trying to build up courage and desire to have revision surgery. My weight loss surgeron suggested the sleeve, and I'm thinking that attending a seminar would be beneficial for me. Looking for anyone who would like to attend and meet up?? Would be nice to have or start a support group if possible. Here is the link, whi*****ludes times, locations and dates of seminars as well as attending surgeons (I think the next one is this Monday, Oct. 20, in La Jolla: http://www.scripps.org/services/bariatric-surgery/events

I don't know if there's a support group out here. I moved to San Diego 2 years ago.

I'm 7yrs post-op and haven't been to a support group in the 5yrs that I've lived in CA. I miss it and think that having a support group would help get me back on track. Is anyone around the San Diego area?

Hi Casey! Welcome to OH. I was you several months ago and I've done ALOT of researching and reading on WLS. I really thought the RNY would be for me but the more I researched and after talking to my surgeon I was approved for the SLEEVE. I'm not familiar with Medi-Cal, I have Blue Cross. Their criteria was having a BMI of 36 or over, between the age of 20-65+ years, no substance abuse, psychoses, or uncontrolled depression, and motivation to change life permanently. We all feel the same as you, wanting to live a healthier life. Don't give up on this journey, it will happen for you too.

I was in the hospital overnight, maybe 30 hours total.  I wouldn't say I was ever in a lot of pain, but there was definitely quite a bit of discomfort at first.  They give you pain medication to help with that though.  A week later, I have some occasional mild soreness, but that's about it.

I hope everything goes really smoothly for you.  Let us know.  :)

You'll do great!  I just had mine last Tuesday, and I'm feeling pretty good now a week out.  Try posting on the main VSG forum, and you'll probably get more responses.
