Are there any support groups in the Palmdale/Lancaster area?? I am in need of one..
We really need to have get together... maybe somewhere in North County so some OC/LA folks can come like a meet up for coffee or a beach walk.
You could try, but I've never heard of Kaiser not making you jump through their hoops. I think it is more related to making sure you're committed more than anything else. I have Kaiser in Fontana. Oh, unless they have changed a bit, they'll recommend you eat all kinds of things that aren't really food, they are more accurately described as "a food like substance." Oh, just so you know, the CA forum is really slow. If you want some really good details about the sleeve, visit the VSG forum. The people over there are great, you can ask questions, and if someone can point you in a good direction, they'll respond.

I have regular Medi-Cal until 11/1/14 and ill be active with Anthem then. Has anyone had experience with this plan or the contra costa health plan in getting approved for surgery, and if so what steps did you have to take, what doctor did you initially go to and how was the initial doctor when you first brought up the subject?
I haven't seen a doctor besides a gyno in years and I'm timid to bring this option up to someone I just started seeing and I'm not sure how dismissive they'll be or aggressive on my half to start the process. I've tried to search for blogs documenting peoples journeys but there just aren't any in a similar situation or area and I know each insurance has a different process from beginning to end.
I'm looking for any advice someone may have or any rules of thumb to go by, with Medi-cal there aren't many doctors offices to choose from, so it would be extremely helpful to know if there is one that is a little more helpful overall to get you referred. Thanks so much!
I'm in SD and trying to find people who are interested in attending any of the free Scripps weight loss surgery seminars. Perhaps it will be seen on here. Here's the link for more information regarding dates/times and locations:

I'm preop but I live in fallbrook and work in Kearny Mesa :)
Hello :)
i just got my referral from my pcp today, and he told me to call the Positive Choice Wellness Center and go to Orientation. He also pre-ordered my labs. It doesn't look like the program is specifically called Options anymore, but what they have now seems similar to the Options class I've heard described here on the boards.
I discussed with him that I've done numerous attempts at weight loss, most recently with Medifast and then Dr. Supervised weight control clinic, and I'd rather not have to do a another long nutrition/diet class. He said with proof of my previous attempts the program may waive it.
im in San Diego. Has anyone else successfully gotten Options waived?? :)
thanks!
FYI:
my bmi is 39, no other issues.
im 28.
interested in the sleeve.
My RNY was 9 years ago and I'm back to pre-op weight. I emailed my dr to see about a revision, I think there are a few things going on. I have fibromyalgia, which makes it very hard to get moving. If I go to the gym, I spend 3 days regretting in. I'm wheel chair bound about half the time. The other half, I walk with a cane, or a limp. Heading in to the winter, I have seasonal depression to worry about and my icing on the cake is a high stress job. I started using My Fitness Pal again today, to track my food intake. I must be getting sneaky calories throughout the day. My goal is to lose 10% of my weight by the time I get to the surgeon (again) and see if we can take a look and possibly do a revision. I've already been through the crap side effects of the surgery once, hopefully they won't be as bad this time.
